-----[ ABOUT MISS PARKER

Miss Parker was born on January 3, 1960 in a little place called Blue Cove, Delaware. Throughout the run of "The Pretender", her first name remained a mystery, although there was speculation that it began with the letter 'M' according to hints on the show.

The death of her mother, Catherine Parker, when she was ten years old became a driving event in her life. Originally deemed a suicide, it became clear through the years that Catherine had not killed herself but had been murdered. The memory of the gunshot and her mother's collapsed body in a Centre elevator continually haunted Miss Parker, driving her to seek the truth about who had done this and why. (In the final season, history was re-written and Catherine was revealed to have secretly survived the elevator shooting long enough to give birth to another child before being shot... again. *ahem* Whatever.)

The identity of Miss Parker's father came into question many times. Was it Mr. Parker, powerful Chairman of the Centre, sometimes ruthless, sometimes benevolent, the man she called "Daddy"? Or was it Ben Miller, her mother's dear friend? Or what about the evil, wheezing Dr. Raines? (I can't remember if paternity was ever definitively resolved. Feel free to remind me.)

At the beginning of the show, Miss Parker was assumed to be an only child to the Parkers. By the end of four seasons, she had acquired four siblings. The first reveal was in the third season premiere, "Crazy". Blood testing proved that power-hungry Centre executive Mr. Lyle was in fact her twin brother. The second reveal in the same season (episode "At the Hour of Our Death") was that the Parkers had adopted a dying girl named Faith when Miss Parker was a child. In the fourth season, Mr. Parker's new wife, Brigitte, gave birth to a baby boy in "'Til Death Do Us Part", giving Miss Parker a second brother. And the last reveal at the end of the series was Ethan, the child Catherine Parker had after surviving the elevator shooting. Not only did Ethan share a mother with Miss Parker, but also a father with Jarod.

Ah yes, that brings us to Jarod -- the human chameleon and Miss Parker's forever prey. Second only to seeking resolution to her mother's death was Miss Parker's drive to catch Jarod. Although they were necessary enemies, they also had a strange affinity through their shared history. Both were raised within the prison of the Centre, and both endlessly sought answers to the questions of their past.

In pursuit of Jarod, Miss Parker was assisted by computer geek Broots and psychologist Sydney. Despite her often hostile attitude, she had genuine affection for both, and the three of them helped each other out many times, personally as well as professionally.

Some would claim that Miss Parker and Jarod were meant for each other despite their usual animosity. Others see Miss Parker's true love as Thomas Gates, her boyfriend killed in the third season. Pursuing Angel  has no official position on this controversy except to say... "Aww, who could resist Broots?" *grin*

Thanks to KB's Information Page for some of the details I forgot. I'm mostly relying on memory here so if I've made any errors above, please let me know.
